- Energy Recovery’s PX Pressure Exchanger components now boast a 30-year design life, a 5-year increase validated by rigorous internal testing.
- This extended design life builds upon the proven lasting durability and continuous performance of PX devices operating in some of the harshest environments in seawater desalination, reinforcing the company’s reputation for reliable products that continue to exceed expectations in the industries it serves.
SAN LEANDRO, Calif. – Feb. 27, 2025 — Energy Recovery, Inc. (Nasdaq: ERII) today announced the results of recently conducted testing which concludes that the PX® Pressure® Exchanger® (PX) energy recovery device has a 30-year design life, an increase from a previously published 25-year design life. A newly published whitepaper outlines the extensive testing supporting the assessment.
The company, a leader in energy efficiency technology since 1992, performed a comprehensive internal assessment of the PX device’s durability and found zero history of material fatigue or degradation. The scope of the assessment covered field performance, customer satisfaction, design standards, construction, and testing of PX devices in seawater reverse osmosis.
“Our products are performing in some of the harshest conditions in seawater desalination and industrial wastewater, and our customers demand durability, reliability, and availability,” said Rodney Clemente, Senior Vice President of Water at Energy Recovery. “The most expensive water there is, is the water that you cannot produce due to downtime. With each year that our PX devices continue to exceed expectations, we’re proudly building on our strong reputation in these industries.”
The whitepaper goes on to explain the continued durability: “With careful choice of materials, robust designs developed using advanced computational and analytical tools, precision manufacturing, and rigorous inspection and validation testing, PX devices in seawater reverse osmosis applications are built for several decades of operating life.”
This extended design life builds upon the proven lasting durability and continuous performance of the over 35,000 PX devices deployed into some of the harshest environments in seawater desalination and industrial wastewater, reinforcing the company’s reputation for reliable products that continue to exceed expectations in the industries it serves.
