Lowering Energy Costs for Zero Liquid Discharge at Ranipet Tannery Effluent Treatment Company (Ranitec)

Ranipet Tannery Effluent Treatment Company in Ranipet, India, partnered with Energy Recovery to implement the PX^® Pressure Exchanger^® and saved an estimated $70,361 USD annually in operational costs. The common effluent treatment plant (CETP) was built to treat effluent from 92 tanneries, preventing toxic wastewater from being discharged into the environment and complying with local discharge regulations.

Utilizing Energy Recovery’s PX 70 allowed the CETP to lower energy consumption by an estimated 1,058,500 kWh. This allowed the plant to reuse wastewater efficiently and implement zero liquid discharge (ZLD) with reduced energy use while reducing the stream volume sent to the thermal system.
