Without an Energy Recovery Device (ERD), a high-pressure pump pushes water into a reverse osmosis system where there is rejected seawater that ends up being wasted energy. Equipped with a PX® Pressure Exchanger®, the rejected water is fed back into an ERD that recovers energy and then powers a circulation pump that reduces energy demand on the high-pressure pump—creating a desalination process that’s both optimized and maximizes savings.
